We started this project back in 2009, with a bit of funding support from Country Arts SA. At the time, our idea was to collect stories and associated recipes from people of the Central Flinders Ranges.
Our project recognizes that your food is so much more than just what you put in your mouth… you’re also getting a taste of life, culture and a bit of history too. Our stories currently focus on the communities of the central Flinders Ranges, showing the many different ways that the food of our region reflects our unique environment, heritage and our way of life here.
Writers Tarla Kramer and John Mannion, have collaborated with artists Liz Collins and Cindi Drennan to develop this project, which will be published as a book created with community input, and a series of films by, and about, cooks of the region. We have had ongoing input by many people of the area, and writers and artists of other places who have supported this project with suggestions and input. We look forward to sharing these projects with you.
